Brian & Ashley

I think I smiled the whole time I was editing this set of photos. Brian and Ashley are 100% adorable. These photos make us feel warm and fuzzy. We love their silly, sweet, off-the-wall personalities...case in point: Brian proposed to Ashley in the CU Stadium as they were finishing the Bolder Boulder 10k race. He had friends there with signs and video cameras and everything....and they were wearing tutus. Yes, like ballerinas! And the story of how they met is equally hilarious and adorable...I wouldn't do it justice though, so you'll have to ask them about it.

I'm pretty sure everyone wants to be friends with Brian and Ashley...I know we do...that's just the kind of people they are. So much fun. For their engagement session, we started out on the CU campus, and then headed over to Pearl Street and a super rad, quirky, bursting-at-the-seams bookstore. You might notice their exceptional taste in reading material. Brian just happens to be headed to nursing school, and Ashley just happens to be on her way to becoming a teacher. Love these people. Enjoy!

The 'freakin weekend' (and about to have me some fun...)

Hey blogheads! Happy Thursday!

Quick post before hopping the plane to our wedding in Ohio this weekend. Here's the run-down:

- This weekend's wedding is going to be 'sick' (as the young whippersnappers say it nowadays). Michelle and Keith allotted more than enough time to get creative with us, and we're really excited to get to shoot their sweet faces and capture some creative shots of the two of them.

- We just expanded our arsenal and bought a second 5d MarkII and a pair of PocketWizards (translation for non-photo-people: we can get better, sharper photos, especially in low light, and we can start incorporating more off-camera flash to broaden the creative possibilities and increase the quality and creativity of our work.)

- We're sitting on ~10,000 photos to post process from the past couple weeks! Sounds daunting, but hey, we're pros, right? ;) We'll still have everyone's photos to them in good time, so no worries there. Editing is half the fun anyway. On that note, see today's photo from a session last week. Dang, is all I got to say. Laura took it while sitting up on my shoulders, and I LOVE it!! David and Heather, you two are rock stars - thanks for the amazing experience of getting to shoot you two! More to come on them later... ;)

- In other news I got a new bike. OK, well, it's new to me, people. I'm not an ultra-biker or anything, but I commute around town most days and my old bike (read: the gank, sun-faded, purple road bike I found by the dumpster when I was a bachelor) finally bit the dust, and wasn't very 'becoming' anyway. My new one is a fancy Craigslist Special - a Specialized Allez road bike to be exact, that's just a couple years old. I love the thing, and try my darndest to go faster than all the cars. Yes, ma, I wear a helmet. Sheeesh!

OK, I need to pack now or Wonderwife is going to wonder why all my clothes, toothbrush, shoes, etc were hurriedly shoved into a grocery bag. Have a good weekend, bloggies!

Preston & Beth & the Red Chair

Meet again our friends Beth and Preston. Meet their red chair, too. Beth recently graduated with her degree in Social Work and wanted some "anytime" portraits of herself and her arts and crafts project, the chair! She let her studly hubby jump in a few of them too. We went to a field just off the South Boulder Creek trail behind our house, and the light was AMAZING! Gooey golden goodness with sun flares out the wazoo. (Side note: that phrase looked weird when I typed it, but rest assured, the urban dictionary defines it like this: "out the wazoo" - means an excess, or plentiful supply of) And that is what I meant.

Anyway, please enjoy the forthcoming eyecandy of the stunning Beth and her handsome Preston.

Preston & Beth (teaser!)

Ummmmm...we are bigtime in love with this photo of our two amazing and beautiful friends, Preston and Beth. More to come later!

(TR: As an aside, if you can take a photo like this, then you are as good as my wife, the illustrious, talented Mrs. Laura Leigh Ramos (also known by the alias 'WonderWife'))

Julia & Greg

We love Julia and Greg! They were super awesome models because they have the "snuggle/nuzzle/be adorable" thing down pat. Last Sunday morning we got to peek into their lives a bit and get to know them as we strolled through some wicked cool alleys in downtown Denver. We discovered some great little spots. Julia and Greg are so in love, and we loved capturing them interacting in their own little world. We can't WAIT for their downtown October wedding...16-member bridal party, Rolls Royce limo, Brown Palace reception....bring it!

Thank you, Julia and Greg! Hope you enjoy!

Jessica & Matt: TEASER!

OK bloggies, we're excited. I'll just start there. Not only are Jessica and Matt (er, Truck) two of the coolest clients you could ask for, they're just amazing people, and we're excited to get to work through their photo set in the coming weeks and see what we captured of their gorgeous Flagstaff wedding. For now, here's a teaser (below). We always like working in ways to bring our clients something a little 'extra,' and for Jessica & Matt's mountaintop wedding we decided to set up a little time lapse of the amphitheatre using one of our backup cameras set up with the ultra-wide lens on it. We wrapped it in a ziplock bag to keep it dry, anchored it down using the jazzy Manfrotto tripod, and tethered it to our intervalometer remote set to take a photo every 10 seconds. Check out the final product! Fun!! (and for those who may have missed the wedding, here is the condensed, 1 minute version...)

I've watched it about 500 times now, and I'm now playing where's Waldo as it plays trying to track Laura and I move around during the ceremony (haha). I think my favorite parts are the rolling out of the aisle runner, watching the clouds roll & the shadows move over Boulder, and when the umbrellas come out and then go away. So cool!

Brian & Melissa

You know that smell of pine and rain and fresh, crisp mountain air? Something about the feeling of filling my lungs with that air is just so deeply good and satisfying...I just want to drink it in. That was the atmosphere at Boettcher Mansion last weekend, where perched atop a mountain and surrounded by their family and friends, Brian and Melissa made a forever promise to each other. The wedding was small, relaxed and intimate. As the rain started to fall after the ceremony, inside the rustic and elegant Fireside Room at the mansion, the reception was cozy and lively. Melissa was a radiant bride, and Brian her proud and happy groom. We had a blast and felt so blessed to be a part of this wedding!

Congratulations Melissa and Brian...hope you enjoy the photos!
